Quick and Simple,
If a woman can have the freedom of choice to determine whether or not she wants to have a kid… should the alleged father have the freedom to choose to opt out of child support should he not be in aggreeance to have the child?
The Idea behind family planning is sometimes a woman may get pregnant who is not ready to have a child financially, or mentally or whatever it may be be. The woman that chooses to abort may have been raped or found herself in the motherly way after a bad split decision, a decision she does not want to effect her life in that manner. Its a serious discussion and its a woman’s discussion. I concede that.
However, what about the man? What happens if a guy who is on the right track is baited by a woman of lesser caliber and she gets pregnant and he doesn’t want her to be the mother of his child? Should he, if notified of the situation have the ability to say that he does not want the child and if she chooses to have the child… does not want his life impacted, “in that manner”. I know this looks wrong, but what does this say about the way we view responsibility for sexual behavior as a society? Does this incentivize promiscuity? Is the woman always more mentally capable to make familial decisions? What if the woman doesn’t want the child and the man does, should the child not be born because a man is incapable of raising and providing a home for and loving a child?
This is an interesting thought to me, because its not always the woman who is effected by bad judgement or irresponsible behavior but when it comes to family matters men… especially black men, arent given the time of day with regard to the court system or the women that they deal with in these matters. Is this situation sexist?
Yes, if the man doesn’t want the child he shouldn’t lay with the girl…. just like if a guy is a bum a woman shouldn’t have a kid with him .
The question here is; If there is a way out for the woman, should there be a way out for the guy? If guys had a way out would women be more careful about who they have children with? Would the effect be less children to single parents? Would less children in one parent homes mean less reliance on public assistance. Would there be rebirth of the traditional nuclear family?
